Quinoral Range

Indications

  • For use when it is not possible to give oral therapy. The switch to oral therapy should happen as soon as the clinical condition of the patient warrants it.

Caution:
Combinations not recommended. Mefloquine: Can lead to a convulsive crisis. Always leave a minimum of 12 hours between an infusion of quinine and the start of therapy with mefloquine.



Key Benefits

  • In chloroquine sensitive areas, highly effective against the asexual erythrocytic forms of P. vivax, P. falciparum and gametocytes of P. vivax.

  • Rapid control of parasitaemia and clinical symptoms

 

Caution:
Acute chloroquine poisoning is often fatal. Oral doses as low as 50mg base/kg can be lethal.
