Mapril Range

Mapril Tablets

Ramipril

1.5mg, 2.5mg, 5mg or 10mg

Euril Tablets

Enalapril maleate

2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, or 20mg

Key Benefits

  • Mapril may delay the onset of type 2 diabetes

  • It improves long-term outcome in patients at increased risk of developing cardio-vascular disease

  • Long acting ACE inhibitor suitable for once daily dosing leading to better compliance

Indications

  • The treatment of mild to moderate hypertension.

  • Congestive heart failure as adjunctive therapy to diuretics with or without cardiac glycosides. Mapril has been shown to reduce mortality when given to patients surviving acute myocardial infarction with clinical evidence of heart failure.

  • Ramipril is a prodrug which, after absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, is hydrolysed in the liver to form the active angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, ramiprilat which is a potent and long-acting ACE inhibitor.

Key Benefits

  • After absorption Euril is hydrolysed to enalaprilat which inhibits ACE resulting in decreased plasma renin activity and decreased aldosterone secretion.

Indications

  • All grades of essential hypertension and renovascular hypertension

  • Treatment of heart failure. In heart failure, Euril is used as an adjunctive therapy with non-potassium sparing diuretics and, where appropriate, digitalis. Euril has been shown to improve symptoms, retard the progression of the disease, and reduce mortality and hospitalisation

  • Prevention of symptomatic heart failure. When used in asymptomatic patients with left ventricular dysfunction, Euril retards the development of symptomatic heart failure, and reduces hospitalisation for heart failure

  • Prevention of coronary ischaemic events in patients with left ventricular dysfunction

  • Euril reduces the incidence of myocardial infarction and reduces hospitalisation for unstable angina pectoris
